TROY, NY — On Oct. 11, 2016, a ginger tsunami flooded the banks of Troy, N.Y. leaving patrons in Ryan’s Wake stunned, shocked and awed by the spectacle.

In spite of being in a “No Wake Zone,” The League of Extraordinary Red Heads flooded the banks of the Hudson River with its ginger tsunami during “Night of the Walking Red IV.” Photo by Tom Killips
More than 200 card-carrying members of The League of Extraordinary Red Heads gathered for their fourth annual autumn meeting & toast, “Night of the Walking Red.” Seriously, get a load of this crowd on the deck!
Coppertopped folks arrived from parts as far away as Buffalo, Saranac Lake and New Jersey to discuss the following agenda items: 1) Us. 2) Them.
Glasses of Saranac Pumpkin Ale and 2 Gingers Whisky were lifted over fiery heads as The Red Haired Strangers began to play an extraordinary set of bluegrass, the perfect sounds for one of the last warm nights of fall.
There were red heads of all shades.
And ages.
There was even an extraordinary photo booth!

It’s good to the be The Founder.
The Troy Record event sent a red haired reporter to document this extraordinary summit. Read the story here.

Lauren Mineau took tons of great photos for The Record.
The Red Haired Strangers rocked it all night with a second set lighting up the darkness.
Inside, things were warm and cozy.
And then Anasha’s famous viking helmet came out.
Things got pretty hairy after that…
Families came together to celebrate their red haired members.
The League sincerely thanks Chris Ryan for hosting this gathering at Ryan’s Wake Public House and for seriously going all out on the decorations.
And that’s all for this year, folks. See you in the spring, when the League gathers again, suddenly and without warning, like a flash fire of gingery goodness.
